How will my iron door be packaged and shipped?

Your new iron doors will be delivered to the end of your driveway at your home. They are shipped in supportive packages made of wood or steel that will protect the door during delivery. The packages are heavily lined with padding to prevent the doors from moving around during shipment, and to prevent scratches or blemishes. When the shipping crate arrives, you can open the crate and remove the padding to check for any damages. If there are any, please report them within 24 hours of delivery and we will return the door without any additional costs. Marking the package as 'damaged' will help ensure there are no problems if damage occurs.

How will I received my iron door?

A truck with a lift gate will lower your door safely to the ground at your home. Once your door arrives to the final shipping terminal, you will be notified to receive the delivery within the next 2 days. You being there ensures that your will have the opportunity to inspect the doors for damage. We recommend 2-4 adults to carry the iron doors, as they are heavy.

How can I track my order?

Once your order is placed, you will receive a tracking number via email to confirm shipment of your iron door. You will also receive a phone call from the shipping company to schedule the appointment for delivery, which is typically within 2 days after the appointment is schedule.

What is the difference between wrought iron and steel?

Wrought iron describes the process used to manipulate the iron or steel to create decorative items, such as doors, and is only produced by specialty shops. Wrought iron products you find online are steel products that have been 'wrought' or twisted into decorative elements. Steel and other alloys have replaced the use of traditional wrought iron and provide many advantages.

What is a “rough opening” (R.O.)?

The measurement of the width and height of the door is describe by the term 'rough opening.' In a newly constructed home, this will be the dimensions of the entryway. In a home that is already built, it will be the distance between the inside of the door frame from left to right and the height of the door frame from the header to the subfloor. In most instances, an RO is typically an inch taller and an inch wider than the actual measurement, which leaves ample room for proper installation adjustments.

What is a jamb?

The inside of the iron frame that surrounds the door is known as the 'jamb' or 'doorjamb'. The depth of the jamb is crucial, as you will need a certain wooden frame that the iron doorframe will be mounted to. The jamb depth and the doorframe depth will be the same. If you are using 2x4 lumber, you will need a 6 inch jamb, which gives you 2 inches to properly finish the door, ensuring the iron doorframe and the exterior of your home are flush with one another. If you are using 2x6 lumber, you will need an 8 inch jamb.

Are these heavy doors hard to open?
